Station Rotations

 

Subject: Station Rotations

 

Application: The English 9th grade plc used station rotations to introduce background information on Shakespeare.  Station 1) students watched a video on Shakespeare’s life and took notes,  Station 2) students read all about the Globe Theatre and took notes,  Station 3) Students collaborated on a vocabulary assignment to come up with the best definition of words that matched the usage for our unit.

This was followed by a quiz given on Formative.  Students used their cell phones to take the quiz.

That Wednesday was dedicated to feedback to the students as we were able to talk about the questions that the students showed difficulty in mastering. 

Successes:

1.  There was a high level of student engagement, as well as student ownership in the use of data from the formative quiz.

 

Challenges:

1.     Next time, data should be gathered to form more effective groups.
